With his father’s guidance, Louisiana native Shane Gibson learned his first guitar chords at the age of thirteen. His musical career has skyrocketed ever since. After moving to Florida, he met Atlantic Records artist Jeremy Griffith, who inspired Shane to enter–and win–the West Coast Florida Battle of the bands two years running. After high school, Shane entered Berklee College of Music, earning two scholarships. During his university years, he participated in ensembles, bands, and other studio projects, including radio and commercial jingles. In his spare time, he performed with the Japanese metal band Teiousekkai, with whom he recorded a debut CD. After graduating, Shane recorded a CD which captured the attention of Mike Verney, the CEO of Shrapnel Records.In 2006, Shane relocated to Los Angeles. While in L.A., he worked for the band KISS and for Immergent Records. He also worked as a musician in the television industry and began teaching guitar lessons.In 2007, Shane played with Jonathan Davis of KoRn for his solo album and his subsequent tour. During that year, Shane joined KoRn. His fine musicianship drew worldwide attention during the band’s recording projects and world tours.
After three years, Shane left KoRn to work with three bands: stOrk, Schwarzenator, and DeFable. Although much of his work has been in the metal genre, Shane’s versatility allows him to cross over into many genres, including jazz, acoustic, electric, folk, fusion, and experimental, all performed with his hallmark technical precision. Shane encourages students with his patience and with his passion for teaching.
